#107 ART DECO Celluloid Container - Repurposed, Toothbrush, Holder, Floral
ART DECO Celluloid Container - Repurposed, Toothbrush, Holder, Floral

May I offer….

AGE: C.1930 or so

ITEM: From the Art Deco era, here's a celluloid container that I decorated with a bit of vintage rayon ribbon and a GENUINE Victorian Die Cut!  The die cut would have originally been on a calling card and the piece has a pair of hands holding a wreath of pink, yellow and red roses.  At the center is the word FRIENDSHIP.  The back of the container has a repro die cut, heart shaped, showing pin and red roses with blue forget me nots.

CONDITION: Excellent with no stains, burns, etc. on the outside.  The inside is a bit dusty and has some dark marks - from the sliding in and out of whatever the container held.

HALLMARKS: French Ivory on the bottom of the holder

SIZE: Stands 4" high. Length at the base is 3-1/16", width is 1-13/16".  At the top, length is 2-11/16"; width is 1-1/2".

FINAL COMMENTS: The holder might have held a container of talcum powder or toothpaste powder.  It could be used today as a small ornamental vase (I used paper flowers in my display).
