Dating to the 1900s or so (Edwardian period) and from France, may I offer this little tidbit that a friend found for me in France. Here's a French pharmacy box - a little on the large side - that has been embellished with some vintage materials - a Victorian chromolithograph, in this case a card for the top of a small chocolate box, as well as a Gold Dresden phrase that reads MANY RETURNS OF THE DAY aka HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
The graphic depicts a beautiful spray of pink roses rendered in a Catherine Klein manner. The box is hinged at the back so when the lid is lifted, it isn't going anywhere! Condition: The front of the box is perfect - the inside shows VERY FAINT foxing. The interior could be padded with some fabric or some paper shavings could be added to cushion a gift. The bottom of the box is perfect. Overall, just a lovely presentation box that doesn't need any gift wrapping!
Size: 4-1/4" x 3" with a depth of 1-1/2".
Final Comments: Just delightful and definitely ONE OF A KIND!
