Dating to the 1950s or so, may I offer this pair of gold earrings that I found attached to a white card that reads "IMPORTED" and with handwritten notations of 14K and $16.00. For pierced ears, shepherd hooks with a front round embellishment, the drops appear to be daisies with center stones of faceted garnets. Condition is perfect! The drops loosely hang from the shepherd hooks so they can be removed if desired and just the earwires worn. The jeweler who had these earrings certainly loved shepherd hooks - I guess he figured you could suspend whatever you wanted from them!
Metal Content: 14K Gold Hallmarks: 14K the earwires; no marks on the drops - they were gently acid tested for content. NOTE: The maker might be Esemco but I am not sure. Esemco made this same design in a pendant (a dealer on Ruby Lane has it in their shop albeit in 10K Gold rather than 14K).
Size: Shepherd hooks are regular adult size. From top of ball on the hook to bottom of drop measures 1-1/4" width is just shy of 1".
Garnets: Garnets are extremely clear and faceted nicely. Each stone measures 5.2mm (50 points) for a total weight of 1 carat!
Weight: 5.6 grams combined
Final Comments: Lovely!
