From France and dating precisely to 1889, may I offer this religious Catholic pendant that would have been presented to a young lady upon her First Communion. Composed of silver and blue enamel, the pendant is comprised of two parts. First, the bale is a Dove of Peace aka The Holy Spirit. Secondly, the bottom medal depicts the Cup of Christ (a chalice) and features the wording "Souvenir de 1re Communion: amongst the blue enamel. The back of the medal is engraved "Y de F 27 Juin 1889". Condition is fabulous with a mellow patina to the silver - it has not been polished in some time.
Metal Content: Being French, either 800 or 900 Silver with one French poincon (punchmark) on the bale of the piece indicating country of manufacture and silver content (too small to photo or read correctly).
Size: From top of Dove to bottom of medal measures 1-5/8"; width is 11/16".
Weight: 3.6 grams
Final Comments: A unique religious item that is becoming increasingly harder to find. And the fact that this piece can be accurately dated, is just a bonus! Just needs a chain to make it complete - mine is for display purposes only.
