Dating to the early 1900s or so, may I offer this greeting card to lady who loves to gift antique/vintage items to her friends and family. I mean, why not use a vintage card to announce a gift! This antique celluloid greeting card bears the greeting "With Best Wishes" to the front while on the inside, the sentiment is to have a Happy New Year!
The outer celluloid cover has a delightful punch work design (hard to see in the photos) and bears a spray of pansies in purple and yellow (the Victorian sentiment? Think of Me [pensez a moi in French parlance]). The spine of the card has a bit of pink rayon ribbon as well as silver and pink tinsel. Open the card to view an interior that reads "Joy and Good Wishes (Shakespeare), A Very Happy New Year to You." At the bottom is a die cut of pink cardstock upon which has been added a genuine Victorian die cut of a pink rose. The back of the card shows light foxing - indicative of its age. Condition: Excellent! While most of the card is original, it did need a little help in a few places to make it presentable once more. Card will arrive in a clear plastic sleeve for presentation.
Size: When closed, 4-1/2" x 3-1/2"
Final comments: Antique cards that can be re-used are hard to find - especially in good condition. A premium is placed on all things old and beautiful these days and what better way to show your uniqueness in gifting than in presenting a ONE OF A KIND gift card!
