About 20 years ago, my partner Art came into 3 shadowboxes full of Victorian buttons. Well, he couldn't sell the buttons as a set so he had me take them from the boxes to list individually which I am now doing. I'm not a button expert but I do know a good one (or two) when I see them. So up for offer now:
Dating anywhere from the late 1800s to early 1900s, may I offer this metal button, shank back, with a front design of a Japanese Geisha (my opinion) peeking over a vase of leaves and in the background, chrysanthemums. Shank back. Condition is very nice with just a touch of green to the back of the button - I think the piece just needs a cleaning. Metal Content? I have no idea. Base metal? Brass?
Size is 7/8" across
Definitely a unique bit of metal for a treasured project!
