About 20 years ago, my partner Art came into 3 shadowboxes full of Victorian buttons. Well, he couldn't sell the buttons as a set so he had me take them from the boxes to list individually which I am now doing. I'm not a button expert but I do know a good one (or two) when I see them. So up for offer now:
I am guessing but I believe the date of this button is anywhere from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Made of metal with a shank back, here's an interesting decorative button featuring an image to the front of Hercules about to kill a deer. The brass colored button has a blackened background to heighten the foreground. Condition is very nice with no problems I can spot - only a bit of glue residue to the back of the piece.
The metal content? Hmm. Base metal? Brass? I really don't know. Size is 1-1/16" across.
Definitely a unique bit of metal for a treasured project!
