About 20 years ago, my partner Art came into 3 shadowboxes full of Victorian buttons. Well, he couldn't sell the buttons as a set so he had me take them from the boxes to list individually which I am now doing. I'm not a button expert but I do know a good one (or two) when I see them. So up for offer now:
Dating anywhere from the late 1800s to early 1900s, here's a metal button, shank back, with a front design of a an angel (guardian angel?) having her hand on a Knight's shoulder. The button has a very nice front - the reverse has a slightly flattened shank as well as minor loss to the back black enamel coating. Metal content is indeterminate - Base Metal? Brass? I don't know. Size is 1-3/8" across.
Definitely a unique bit of metal for a project!
