From France and dating to the early 1900s, here is a silver pendant or medal featuring an eglomise front and a gilt back. First, let me explain eglomise - it's a design placed under glass that is a print but is hand painted (hand tinted) within the lines; in this case, the front design is of Saint Bruno. The back of the pendant depicts the Virgin Mary in the position found on the Miraculous Medal.
Saint Bruno is known as one of the Patron Saints of Germany.
Condition: Excellent! No disintegration in any part of the images - no chips to any part of the glass!
Metal Content: Being French, either 800 or 900 Silver.
Hallmarks: One French poincon (punch mark) at the back of the bale denoting silver content and country of manufacture.
Size: Not including the bale or jump ring, the pendant is 1-1/8" high x 11/16" wide.
Weight: 3.1 grams
Final Comments: Absolutely beautiful and VERY hard to find in such excellent condition! All that's needed now is the right chain (mine is for display purposes only).
