May I offer....
AGE: C.1900 or so
ITEM: A Cornelian shell cameo, nicely carved, and quite "high" in its relief, of a Greek/Roman Lady Goddess facing right and set in an oval frame of etched yellow gold. Old fashioned safety catch holds the pinstem in place as it should.
CONDITION: Excellent with no problems I can spot. Carving is not "rough and tumble" slap dash, quickly carved. Rather, it is a shell cameo that has been lovingly tended to. The detail of the oak leaves and necklace, and tendrils of hair is amazing. Much, MUCH better than my poor pictures can depict.
METAL CONTENT: 10K Gold
HALLMARKS: 10K on the safety catch
SIZE: including the frame, the piece measures 1-1/2" x 1-3/4". Cameo alone measures 1-3/16" x 1-9/16".
WEIGHT: 10.2 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: Utterly charming!
