May I offer….
AGE: C.1920 or so
ITEM: Probably one of the best and most complete candy containers from Japan that I have ever found! In fact, this one is out of my personal collection - something that I just didn't want to sell but needs must. Made of cardboard, this Christmas boot ornament is covered in a dry straw-like twist of red and green. Ribbon, holly leaves and berries adorn this section. At the top, the Santa face is pink clay with nicely painted features. No parts missing, no breaks, etc. The original hang ribbon is still present. Lid lifts off easily to show a very clean interior.
CONDITION: For its age, it's about as excellent as it can get! While my pics show the piece as a bit BRIGHT, the piece definitely as the patina of age!
HALLMARKS: Made in Japan in an oval cartouche on the bottom of the boot!
SIZE: Stands about 7-1/2" high; width at the base is 3-3/4"; width at the front is 2-1/4".
FINAL COMMENTS: This is definitely a "pride of place" Christmas Collectible!
