Dating to the late 1800s may I offer this prize winning medal that was presented to someone who won a History competition at PS No 37 aka Public School No 37. Condition is wonderful with a dark patina to the silver. The medal is entirely hand cut and hand engraved - there is no recipient name at the back so it can be given as a gift. To obtain a shine all that is needed is a polishing. Simple c-catch at the back to hold the pin in place.
Metal Content: Sterling Silver with 2 Hallmarks of STERLING at the top and bottom reverse.
Size: From top of pin to bottom of star measures 2-1/4"; width is 1-1/2".
Weight: 8.6 grams
Final Comments: Public School No. 37, also known as Patrick Henry School and Primary School No. 37, is a historic elementary school located at Baltimore, Maryland, United States. It is an elaborately detailed Georgian Revival structure. It was built in 1896 for $25,000.
Public School No. 37 was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
