Dating to the late 1970s or early 1980s may I offer this pair of Native American designed silver earrings for pierced ears, (hypoallergenic posts with nuts), featuring Paua Shell (the New Zealand equivalent of Abalone) inserts. The coloring of the shell is bright turquoise green and is quite lovely. The earrings are still attached to their original sales card from Sunrise Silver. Condition is very nice - unused as you can see.
Metal Content: The drops are Sterling Silver; Hallmarks include STERLING ®WMo on the back of the drops. Earwires are hypoallergenic.
Size: From top of ball to bottom measures 1-1/8"; width is 3/8".
Weight: 6.5 grams with the plastic holder - I did not separate the earrings to weigh them.
Final Comments: Pāua is the Māori name given to marine gastropod molluscs which belong to the family Haliotidae, known in the United States and Australia as abalone, and in the United Kingdom as ormer shells.
