Dating from the early 1900s may I offer this stunning pin cushion in tones of green and browned lace. The highlight of this piece is the French Ribbonwork at the top - a Dahlia with lots and lots of leaves. The pin cushion is lightly stuffed, not firm, so it is flexible when you pick it up.
Condition: Well, it is very clean and there is no musty/dusty smell. No smoke either. To look at, the piece is a delight of times past. But the ribbon has frayed in places, there is one tear in the lace at the front, middle bottom, I did add a few stitches here and there to tack down some sections that were lifting. Overall light browning (from age) to the lace and if you want to get picky, the velvet has faded to a perfect patina. And no, there is no shedding to the velvet that I can tell.
Size: 11-1/2" long x 4" wide. Depth is about 2-3/4".
Final Comments: Look for more ribbonwork in my shop - antique as well as vintage and newly made. I hope (eventually) to have a good selection of the needle art compositions of old!
