May I offer....
AGE: C.1900 or so
ITEM: A small round pin holding a hand painted portrait miniature of a lady wearing a blue hat. The original glass is present and the portrait is nicely rendered though I cannot find a signature; the material for the painting appears to be celluloid, possibly vellum. The pin clasp is a simple c-catch so the pin could be late Victorian or early Edwardian. The pin is made of silver but features a rose gold rim surrounding the painting.
CONDITION: The pin's patina is dark but that's easily changed with a light polish. No parts missing on the portrait that I can spot.
METAL CONTENT: I'm thinking the piece is English in origin so silver would be Sterling and gold would be 9K.
HALLMARKS: None that I can find.
SIZE: 3/4" high/wide with an overly long pin indicative of a Late Victorian/Early Edwardian era manufacture.
WEIGHT: 3.2 grams
FINAL COMMENTS: Sometimes the nicest gifts come in the smallest package!
