Dating to the early 1900s may I offer from the Kreigshauser Mortuary of St. Louis, Mo, this "Compliments of" bamboo fan - handpainted with a single pink rose. Summers are hot here in the Midwest and back in the old days, a fan was a necessity! Condition is very nice for its age with just a bit of age darkening. The slats have to b e carefully splayed so that the full view of the rose is visible. The original ribbon is present and is not damaged though couple of the slats go a little "wider" when spread out. The edges of the slats are highlighted with gold.
Hallmarks: Compliments of Kriegshauser on the front slat.
Size: When open - 10-1/2" x 6-3/16". When closed, 6" x 1" (at the widest point).
Final Comments: The story of Krieghauser Mortuary-West Chapel begins in 1891, when Herman Kriegshauser established a St. Louis-based funeral service business with his son, George. The company continues to operate in the St. Louis area today.
