FINAL COMMENTS: Alphonse LaPaglia (1907-1953) was a silversmith who studied under the Danish Master Georg Jensen. Leaving Europe for America in the early 1940s, Mr. LaPaglia designed silver goods not only for himself but for Georg Jensen USA and the International Silver Company. After Mr. LaPaglia's death in 1953, International continued his design work for a few more years until Black, Starr & Gorham purchased designs from the inventory of International and produced LaPaglia designs from around 1947 through 1957. Pieces from the Black, Starr era of manufacture are coveted designs and eminently collectible!
